Adoptable Dogs at the Animal Shelter
Please note: Below you will find dogs available for adoption from the Knox County Animal Shelter (the dog pound.) The Knox County Humane Society lists these dogs as a courtesy in an effort to get as many dogs as possible adopted. You will need to contact the appropriate organization to adopt the dog you want. Contact information is available below as well as on each dog's information page.
About the Animal Shelter
The Knox County Animal Shelter is a county run and funded organization. It is located at 285 Columbus Rd in Mount Vernon, OH.
Stray dogs are held for 72 hours (3 days). If not reclaimed by an owner, they may be put up for adoption. Owner surrenders (dogs brought to the shelter by an owner) can be put up for adoption immediately. If you have lost your dog and see it pictured here, please call or come to the shelter to reclaim it!
As an open door shelter, space must be made available for incoming dogs.
Please save these lives by adopting!
If you are interested in adopting, please
come in person to meet the dog. A bonding room is available for potential
adopters to interact with the dogs in a quiet setting. Applications are
available at the shelter.
Animal Shelter adoption fees:
