Casper, a.k.a. Tootsie, was a special needs cat. She is a white long hair Persian who is deaf. Casper/Tootsie was approximately 2 years old when I got her, making her around 9 years old now.
I had been going to the shelter trying to find a lost cat for a friend when I began noticing Tootsie sitting up and back, looking kind of forlorn. I inquired about her, brought my wife in to see her, and the rest is history. Tootsie has been with our family since February 1997. She is kind of a loner cat and still likes to be up on a table, cabinet, or chair. She is a delight to watch as her mannerisms are quite comical. She watches shadows and feels vibrations to cope with her deafness, such as someone walking across the floor or a door being slammed shut. Tootsie is queen bee over the other two cats, Pookie and April, and Luckey the dog.
Tootsie has had no health problems, gets her yearly shots, and we hope she is with us for at least another nine years.
Sincerely,
Howard W. Hoffman
