Foster Program

Cat nursing kittens

Fostering is a part of our volunteering program. A mother with her kittens or kittens only are taken into a home to grow, to socialize and to have fun with until they are ready to be spayed or neutered.

Kittens need socialization with children and animals to become good pets.

Kittens become a part of your family.

The Cat Shelter provides the medical needs, food and litter while your family enjoys the stages of kittenhood.

vaccinating kittens

Mother and kittens receive vaccinations, worm and ear mite treatment by the medical staff. When the mother has weaned her kittens, she is returned to the shelter for spaying and adoption. The kittens are spayed or neutered when they are 2 pounds, around 10 to 12 weeks old. At this time, kittens are ready to be adopted.

As a foster volunteer, you get to keep one cat or kitten at no charge. We encourage foster families to find homes for their fosters by showing friends and relatives their fosters. If only one kitten is fostered, the normal adoption fee is charged.
